Hi Barbara
Charlotte has nine cemeteries--four of which are abandoned. Those abandoned were
Ploof (5 graves), Marcotte (5 graves), Bradley (33 graves), Quinland-Sherman (16
graves).
The largest cemeteries currently in use is Grandview, congregational with several
hundred graves; Mt Carmel, catholic, ca. 250 graves; Morningside, baptist, ca. 450
graves.
The Barber cemetery had its last burial in 1956 and has 200+ graves. The Thorp
Cemetery has only 4 graves and the last burial was in 1916.
I don't know the summer library hours, but the librarian is Diane Dolbashian, Tel
802-425-3864
By coincidence, I am speaking to the Charlotte Historical Society at the library
this coming Tuesday, Topic: Picking the Brains of Genealogical Researchers--Dead &
Alive.
Hopes this helps.
