Howdy,
Coincidentally, one of our CROSS folks moved his family west from
Michigan to Seattle around 1902 or so. Leonard Cross, a photographer from
Midland, Michigan, whose parents were from Canada, moved his wife Nellie
Lunney Cross and their daughter Gertrude to the Seattle area from Richland
Township, Michigan. I could not make a connection as to why they did that
since the only people in Washington were Nellie's uncle George Perkins and
her cousins Bessie and George Stevens. They are in the 1910 census in Seattle
and then by 1920 they relocated to Pomona, Los Angeles County, California.
I'm thinking that your Cross connection might have been a relative giving
them a place to stay. If any of this sounds coincidental to your research
please let me know and I'll help you where I can.
