The following article was found in the Wilkes-Barre (PA) Record, 5 Jun
1895, Page 1. If anyone is interested in receiving a copy of this

more diverse group.)

"John Evans, a well known and respected citizen of this city died at his
home, 52 Lincoln street, at 2:30 this morning of chronic stititus, after
an illness of about nine weeks. Mr. Evans was born in Neath Abbey,
Glamorganshire, South Wales, Feb. 19, 1823. He came to America in 1869,
and first lived in Hokendaqua and worked for the Thomas Iron Company.
He came to this city in 1874 and has been employed as a machinist in the
Lehigh Valley shops since that time.

"He is survived by a wife and seven children, all grown, as follows:
L.L. Evans of Elizabeth, N.J.; Mrs. R. Kenworthy, Mrs. R.C. Johns, H.E.
Evans of Behee & Evans, Miss Florence K. Evans, John R. of the Boston
Store, and George L.E. of the RECORD.

"Mr. Evans had been a sufferer from the complaint that caused his death
for several years. He had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances
and the news of his demise will be regretted by all.

"Mr. Evans at the time of his death was 72 years, 3 months and 13 days
of age.

"Funeral announcement will be made later."
