I know that I am grasping at straws, but the surname is the same. I'm
trying to find out where in Wales my MATTHEWS ancestors came from. I know
that my great-grandfather, Richard MATTHEWS came to New York from Wales in
about 1838 at about 8 years of age. Because he was so young I am guessing
that he probably came with his parents whose names I learned from Richard's
death certificate dated 1905. His parents were John MATTHEWS and Ann Eliza
DAY. Do you have any suggestions for how to go about finding what part of
Wales they came from?
