Hi to all:
I am trying to trace information on my ggrandfather. I have had many
leads but have not been able to establish any relationship to a
particular group of ancestors -- this person has been my "brick wall"
(no pun intended) for more than 10 years. My only real source is the
1880 Valley township, Guthrie County, Iowa census. It stated his
household as:
WALLS, Henry; age 45, b. KY, father born. Unk, mother b. Unknown
WALLS, Sarah, age 45, b. VA, father b. VA, mother b. VA
WALLS, Ida, age 12, b. IA, father born KY, mother b. VA
WALLS, Marshall, age 8, rest is same as Ida
WALLS, Lewis, age 6, rest same as Ida
I am guessing at the following: His name was Henry P. WALLS. He was
married previously - also to a Sarah whose surname may have been TOWRY
and who may have also been born in Kentucky. Henry and Sarah (1) had at
least 2 children - Charles E. WALLS, b. 10 January 1854, d. 2 March 1867
in Marion County, Iowa; and Edith Elizabeth WALLS b. 1 November 1855 in
Marion County, Iowa, d. 22 November 1933 in Guthrie County, Iowa. Henry
and Sarah (1) may have been married in KY.
Henry probably moved to Iowa in the early 1850's from Kentucky.
After his first wife's death Henry moved to Guthrie County, Iowa and
married Sarah (2) who is listed above. I can find no record of this 2nd
WALLS family in Iowa, or anywhere else for that matter, after 1880.
If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, I would be most appreciative
for any information you might have.
