Wall researchers in Guilford Co., NC & Rockingham Co., NC:

You are going to like this lead! In the notes by James W. Pickard, at
the Asheboro, NC Public Library, I found the following:

>WALL Name Change
>Guilford Co. 1807 p. 39
>Burgess WALL to Burgess WILLIAMS
>William WALL to William BRYANT

This may tie Burgess WALL to our lines. We have an Andrew Burgess WALL,
son of Jesse WALL and Malinda MCMASTERS.

I knew I had seen the name Burgess Wall before! Do you have any
perspective to offer on Burgess WALL or William WALL? I have a lot of
William WALL's, but only one or two fit this time frame:

William WALL, born 1770-1780, probably from Chester Co. PA, died
probably in Randolph Co., NC, see following notes:

1803 Tax List (over age 21 therefore he must be over age 18 in the 1800
Census. (There was a William WALL listed in Chester County, PA in the
1790 Census.)

1815 Tax List, Randolph Co. NC
William Wall was listed. He was probably not Samuel's son because he got
no land from Samuel and was not mentioned in Samuel Wall's will. (Also
note Thomas WALL, listed on the 1815 Tax List with one white poll, no
land holdings in Capt. Swaim's district, the same district as William
Wall's. They were probably brothers.) )

1820 Tax List, Randolph Co. NC
William was listed separately from Willis on the 1820 Tax List, and
therefore cannot be the same man as Willis WALL.
1. (Note to 1820 Tax List: Willis is not listed on the 1815 Tax
List because he was under age 21. See notes for Willis WALL and wife
Nancy RANDOL)
2. (Note to 1820 Tax List: Thomas WALL is not listed in the 1820
Tax List so he may have moved away between this Tax List and returned
sometime before 1840. See notes for Thomas WALL and Christopher
VICKERY.)

1830 Census:
William Wall, p. 44
1 10<15 m
1 15<20 m
1 50<60 m (William Wall, b. 1770-1779)
1 10 <15 f (possibly Cynthia Wall, who named as father Tilmon Wall, b.
1816, son of Soloman Wall, in Bastardy Bond record for 1836. Bondsmen
were Jesse Welborn and John Adams, also Soloman WALL contemporaries.)
1 20<30 f (possibly Temperance WALL, birthdate not known, dau. of
Samuel Wall. Temperance did not marry Silas SWAIM until 2 Nov 1831)
1 50<60 f (Likely to be C. Walls, b. abt. 1775, listed at age 75 in
1850 with N. S. Walls (Nelson?) and N. S. Walls' wife A. J. She likely
m. William about 1792. The ages of these children imply that more
children were grown and had left home).
