Hi Bill,
I have skimmed over the bulk of the material you sent. I have some of the
property deeds to some of the WALLs you sent but ceratinly not all (or
perhaps I do have them but they are not entered into my GEDCOM yet).
While I am not sure it is conclusively proven, the leading candidate to be
father of John WALL m. Ann BROWN is the Joseph WALL Sr. of Surry Co.
Virginia and one of the deeds in the material is the strongest hint I have
seen to date of a connection, one I had not previously been aware of as
this links Joseph WALL Sr. to the BROWNE family.
Cavaliers & Pioneers Vol. 2, pg. 288.
John WILLIAMS & John BROWNE
200 acres amongst diverse black water brs. in Lower part of Surry Co. 20
April 1685 p. 447. Adjacent Nicholas S(e?)ssums; Robert SAVAGE; Charles
SAVAGE; Richard LANE, Mr. CRAWFEILD <sic>; Joseph WALL; Richard SMITH; &
Richard BLOW & co. Transfer of 24 persons.
The transfer of 24 person refers to the reason the land grant was
made. If someone sponsored, and assisted people to immigrate to Virginia
from England and helped establish them in Virginia, the colony rewarded the
person with a grant of land. The more people you help transport, the
larger amount of land the individual (man) was eligible to receive.
Very interesting!
