James, I think we need to sit fown and get your line and mine figured out! I just got package from my couisn in GA about the Wall family. Her family, my Uncle John Wall died in Dec 2003. My UNCLE did a lot of research on the Walls. I have the papers in from of me now. Please tell me if anyhting rings a bell for you. Rememeber my uncle did all his research the hard way, courthouses, libraires archives.
He said" The Wall`s of Jackson CO GA came from Brunswick CO VA and were living there in the 1730`s. A John Wall lived in Brunswick CO and left a will in 1757, naming among others, Arthur and Moses Wall as beneficiaries. Also in the 1750`s 2 other Walls left wills, Richard abd Sarah Wall. Richard Wall was living in Northampton CO NC ( son of Joseph Wall and Susanna Kirpatrick), across the state line from Brunswick. and listed his sons; Sampson, John and Arthur. Sarah Wall (Sarah Forte married Arthur Wall) left a will in Edgcombe CO NC 1754 and listed as sons: Henry, Arthur and Sampson Wall. These families were probably related, with one being our ancestor. Note the simularity between the given names of the 2 family groups.
It is known that the 1st Walls from Jackson CO GA came from South Carolina, probably Edgefield CO SC. A John Walls, 2 Charles Walls, a William and Willimason Walls are listed on the 1800 South Carolinian census as living in Edgdefield CO SC.
The 1830 census ofJackson CO GA lists, Charles, John, William and Williamson Walls. John , Charles, William and Williamson Wall left Jackson CO GA and went to Houston, Monroe and Lee Co GA. The 1840 censusof Jackson CO GA lists, Arthur, Moses, John M., and Ange D Wall. John M., Moses and Ellis Walls are included on the 1832 Jakcson CO GA land lottery, they were all sons of Arthur Wall born abt 1774. Possibly Arthur Wall was listed on the 1805 Oglethorpe CO GA census and the 1820 Gwinnett Co GA census.
Arthur married a Nancy Bowman in Hancoke CO GA Feb 1807. Nancy was 22 years younger than Arthur and he may have married 2 times.
Arthur Wall mamed his first born son MOSES, then John M., Ange, Wade Hampton. Who knows about a John Wall who left a will in Brunswick CO VA in 1757 naming among others, sons Arthur and Moses ? I have much more written by my Uncle John Wall, but it is so long I will spare everyone.
Best reagrds,
Teresa Stuart de Rios
