Hi Shirley,
Sorry to be so long getting back to you. My husband was born and
raised in Sullivan Co., IN, near Dugger, IN. The earliest BEDWELL
ancestor to settle in Sullivan Co. was Robert T., a Rev. War veteran.
He was married to Elender BLACK. They moved with some other family
members to Sullivan Co. in the early 1800's. My husband descends from
two of their sons. They seem to have come to Sullivan from Shelby Co.,
KY and before that they were in Grayson Co., VA and Rowan Co., NC. The
sons were Thomas and John. My father-in-law, Cecil BEDWELL, was from
Thomas and Mary HOULSTON BEDWELL. Their son, Robert R. married Rebecca
PITTS. Their son, David M. married Emma SHEPHERD. Their son, Bert,
married Sarah BORDERS. Cecil was their son. Cecil married Rena Louise
HALE. She is from John and Permilia MARCH BEDWELL. Their daughter,
Lucinda, married Noah HALE. Their son, Robert R., married Naomi
MATTOX. Their son, Everett, married Viola Catherine ROBERTSON. Rena
was their daughter. If you are interested in more information about
these families, I'll be glad to share with you. Are any of these your
husband's families? We have two books written about the BEDWELL lines,
so I can do look-ups if you need something. One is Larry King's book, A
BEDWELL FAMILY. The other is Carolyn Ericson's book BEDWELL BEAUX AND
BELLES, Vol. I. There is a Vol. 2, but we don't have that one. Talk to
you later. Janice
