Hi,
I have been searching my husbands Wallace family for a few months now. So far, we have done well with some collateral lines but, his gradfather William WALLACE has left us with nothing to go on.
Here is what we know: William married Arti Mishia Caulder between 1884 and 1885. They had 4 children together, Alice b May 1868, Jessie James b. 1889 (my husbands father), Willie b. 1895, and Reuben b. abt 1904.
William died in 1946/47 but, apperantly there was no death certificate filled out as there is none in the records of North or South Carolina. We know that there was no funeral home involved as Jessie and his father-in-law "dressed him out on the kitchen table, built his caskett, and buried him in the field next to the Raynham Baptist Church".
He was a tennant farmer all of his life so, there will be no land, probate, or tax records to look up. We have searched every 1870 and 1880 census in Robeson Co, and Marion Co. with no luck at finding a William Wallace (at the assumed age he would be) with any other family.
If you have any suggestions as to where to go from here we would greatly appreciate it. We just need the name of his father. You wouldn't think that would be so difficult but it is.
Thanks so much
Jean
