--------Hello Stacy!
I wonder if you realize just how heroic all of those young men were. If only
you could have seen them on the streets of London where they came on leave.
We young girls checked out their uniforms and their sleeve 'flashes' to see
where they were from. They came from every continent and every country in
the world . One New Zealand sailor wanted to marry me to take me home to
show his mother - I felt like a trophy! They were lovely young boys. I
danced with them at a serviceman's club and poured cups of tea at a mobile
canteen for them when I wasn't working all day in an office or performing
with a dance troupe on the entertainment circuit. When I look back on it all
now I wonder whether we ever slept, especially during the Blitz.
What is the purpose of this group?
May I make a suggestion? Could we please identify whether we are War Brides
or friends/realtives of same?
Cheers!
Hazel
