A report from the local Folkestone newspaper today ...
"More than 300 Folkestone schoolchildren will be taking part in a unique
ceremony today (Thursday 1st July). To mark Canada Day every year, youngsters
gather at Shorncliffe Military Cemetery at 11 a.m. to remember Canadian soldiers
who died during the First World War and were laid to rest there. In many cases
children from the same families have been carrying out the tradition from
generation to generation. Last Post and Reveille will be sounded by buglers on a
ridge above the cemetery."
