Joan:
I was watching that fire from in front of our house in Wembley. I called my
brother and mother to come and see it. I remember the puzzlement and dismay
as we realized that London was on fire. By the end of the PBS programme I
realized I was crying. I think the tears started when the wall fell on the
firemen... awful times... awdul memories. It is ahrd to believe that we were
actually there through all of that. Like you, my heart still leaps when I
hear the sirens.
PS I used to ice skate at Richmond.
