Hello,
If your Father was still in the Canadian Army when he married
your Mother, which I assume he was, you can apply to the Canadian
Army Records Center at Ottawa for ALL his Army records, which should
contain information on the lady he married. As long as he has been
dead for 20 years or more, any close family member can apply for a
copy of all his military records, his have been avaiable since 2004.
If you don't ask for ALL his records they will only give you the part
you request. When you contact them identify yourself as his daughter
and give your Father's name and date of birth, also regiment and army
number if you have it.
Applied for my husband's records in July 2005, he had died in July
1985, we waited 3 months for them to arrive, they are not known for
their speed, but they will come. When I applied I sent my request by
registered mail that way I had a record that they had received it,
but if he was married when he was in the army, that will definitely
be in his records.
Was amazed with the things I found in his records that I had no
idea about, very interesting !! If I had known some of the things I
may not have married him, LOL !!
Regards, Pam, a Canadian bride from Aldershot, now in Arizona.
