Hello Diane,
Sorry I got the name wrong when I wrote. My father was born and lived at
Shortlands until he left home to go out to work. Shortlands is now almost
like an appendage of Bromley. The last time I was there there was still a
fairly steep hill sort of separating the two towns, and Shortlands has its
own railway station. All very different and very much removed from life out
here on the prairies.
I took my four years of secondary education at Bromley Central School, but
actually lived at Bromley Common - on the very outskirts of the town itself.
