Lol!!! Do I detect a Scottish accent Hazel?
My Aunt was an Essex girl war bride. believed to have traveled to Canada on
the Mauretania.
She was in service herself, based in Colchester..where we think she met her
Canadian husband to be.
I am now in regular contact by email with her 'children' my cousins. They
love the little phrases I say in my mail.. that are little things their
'Mom' used to say..unique only to true "ESSEX GAL'S"-like myself xx K xx

Here is one to get you started on strange experiences:
My husband said one day: "Hocks go cah, cah." I couldn't think for the
life of me what a hock was. After some explanations and
misunderstandings, it turned out it was a HAWK he was talking about.
Where I came from they said: "Caw, caw!"
He also mentioned that someone was a popper... again explanations were
needed... he meant PAUPER!
At least he can say my name properly, a bit long on the a, but that's
okaaaay.
Love, Hazel
