Hi Listers,
Today, I managed to track down a copy of Bartlett's book, from
which the description of Arms was taken. This is in the Atherstone
Library, but is a reference book and not available for loan.
Apparently, there are only 3 copies in the county.
The library staff very kindly did a precise lookup for me and the
correct word, evidently, was PANFEY = Pansey = Pansy in current
spelling. So, at the end of the day we have a Stoat with a flower in
its mouth !!
I am pleased to have found the answer and I am grateful to the
many Listers who have struggled with this problem over the week-end.

Regards to all,
Roy
