Gretchen and All,
I've been lurking on this list for about a week but just had to put in my 2
cents here. Not all North Americans think Yorkshire Pudding is a muffin or
popover. In my family it is baked the the roast beasts' drippings and
accompanies the main meal - very tasty. My English G-Grandmother brought
the recipe with her when she immigrated and believe me in our family "no
imitations are accepted."

> While we are at it - how about the north american confusion over Yorkshire
Pudding!!! Many misguided persons over here think that Yorkshire Pudding is
an individual sized poor thing made in a muffin pan resembling more a
"popover" or puffy empty brioche!!! all air and no taste!! Not believing my
protestations to the contrary that Yorkshire is meant to be a lovely stodgy
pud - crisp on the outside and full of texture within - not very high, but
with all with the taste of the Roast Beast melting into it - possibly even
cooked it under the roast for the last half hour!! and served with the meat
and gravy or - after with treacle - YUM!! Gretchen
