Having grown up in the southwestern corner of Franklin County, I was
surprised at a detail in the news account of the death of Elihu
Washburn. The
account reported that he was born at Livermore in Oxford County,
Maine.
Throughout my lifetime, Livermore has been in Androscoggin County.
Either the
news report was erroneous in that detail, or else those county
lines were
redrawn subsequent to 1816.

Thanks for sharing the interesting account of a distinguished Washburn.
