Greetings Cousin Mark, Tuesday 27 November 2001

With regards to "our" English family history...I wish to inform you
that there are areas of "confusion" as to the correct authenticity
concerning the Royalty account of the Washbourne family English linage.
Yes, I also have Cannon James Davenport's book and have studied
his historical accounts as was versed by the [Washbourne] family historian
by the name of Habbington(sp). True, Habbington had scribed a very
detailed account of the Washbourne migration in England but,
there is a very "fine" thread of "accuracy" that brings it to a contested
discussion today.

Our cousin, John Maltby, who has contributed to our family history
research in "very" scholarly way presents a different view according
to another author by the name of "Bernard." Forgive me if the name
is misspelled. But, he also wrote of the Washbourne family history
approximately during the same time frame as Cannon Davenport did.
Although Bernard's sources were not as detailed as Cannon Davenport's
work, he [Bernard] presents a separate area of discussion in how "true"
the Washbourne Royalty line has been connected. Bernard completely
disagrees with Davenport's conclusion with regard to establishing link
to a family Royalty line.

Because of the lack of "authenticated" documentation represented in
this controversy causes much discussion today.

As I mentioned above our cousin, John Maltby, has provided a good argument to
contest Cannon Davenport's family Royalty claim. Personally, I accept
Cannon Davenport's account to be accurate, but we all are entitled to
our "personal" opinion...which is only my own.

Hopefully, Cousin John, could provide to you his scholarly opinion to
this discussion.

Thanks for the dialog...
