I am searching for information on the following families. All of them seemed to be in Spokane at least by 1910 and maybe earlier. Census data show William J. Root and his family in the 1920 Census for Spokane City. Anna Augusta (Smith) Root is said to have died in Spokane. Of the William J. Root children Grace Root and Earl Merritt Root were born in Spokane.
Descendants of William W. Root. Earl Merrit Root's 2nd wife, Helen Dixon was born in Yakima and her father Clayton Moe Dixon was born in Wenatchee, Chelan County. The Dixon family at some point may have moved into the Spokane area. Helen Dixon's first husband was Berman Rinear. Berman's father Berton Maurice Rinear was born in Spokane in October of 1888.
I have not data on the Merritt family. We believe William J. Root married Louisa Merritt in California and were in Spokane by 1900 but may not have arrived until after the Census. Louisa (Merritt) Root died in Spokane. We also believe that William J and Louisa Root's daughter, Grace (Root) (Davis) Nelms also died in Spokane. Thanks for any help on these families. Jeanne
