Looking for any information about my great uncle, Karl Gunnar Rydstedt, who left Sweden approx 1916 to avoid their draft, but ironically wound up drafted into the American Expeditionary Force (I assume).
I assume he lived near my Grandfather, his older brother, (Anders) Henning Bergquist and (wife) Selma (Wickstrom) Bergquist in the Millwood area near Spokane after the war.
He died a young man, prior to my father or aunt knowing him, from the effects of the Great War (gas?) and may have been buried in the Spokane area. I hope to trace his military service records. Gunnar brought back Carl Zeiss military officer's binoculars from the Front (story goes, "off a dead German Officer") which was passed down through generations.
