Greetings Tony
My GAMBLE ancestors seem to have established themselves in the vicinity of
Kilmeaden (and more particularly the 'hamlet' of Cullinagh) since about
1649. Admittedly this is rather north of the Comeraghs, although when I
visited my relatives at Cullinagh in 1975, our reunion was toasted in a
'brew' [poteen] distilled by 'the relatives up in the Comeraghs' - a good
drop too!
I have also been tracking earlierGAMBLEs who pop up in Cork from 1620s and
there appears to have been a northerly migration over the years. My 6th
cousin David Gamble has connections with Cappoquin for example.
In your recent travels and researching I wonder if you came across the
GAMBLE name? If of interest David and I can provide quite extensive
genealogies of the GAMBLEs whose descendants are still at Cullingah.
And just to close, many thanks for all the interesting info you have posted
in recent months. I have learned much and obtained many valuable links.
Regards
Bruce GAMBLE
