Hi,
I am searching for records of Honora / Hannora Kane born circa 1875 in Waterford.
She was my great-grandmother, and apparently travelled to New Zealand at age three years, possibly with an aunt or female friend of the family.
Her death certificate lists her mother as Mary Ann Waters, and her father as Bartholomew Kane.
I understand there may have been some family scandal causing Honora to be sent away from her parents at such a young age, perhaps to cover up an unplanned pregnancy.
I also wonder if Bartholomew Kane was Honora's natural father, or was just recorded as such.
Honora also had a younger sister, name unknown, possibly also shipped out to New Zealand.
I wold be most grateful for any information relating to these family members.
