Hi Everyone,

Just thought I'd let you know (in case you don't already) that the
rootsweb mailing lists are archived and many can now be searched
online. You can pick which list you want to search, put in your search
names, and it will go back through all the postings to the group for the
past two years and bring up the ones that apply. You need to know the
name of the list you want to search.

To find which lists are available on Rootsweb, you can check this site
and choose the lists you are interested in:

http://members.aol.com/johnf14246/gen_mail.html

Choose the ones on Rootsweb, and then you can go to this site and do the
search:

http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl

This is handy in case you recently discovered a new surname or just
joined a group and you want to see what had been posted before you got
on the mailing list. If you've been on a while, you will find your own
postings there, spelling errors and all (grin). Not all lists are
searchable.
