Hi there, I am another Wedgwood from the soon to be republic of
Australia, my family emigrated in 1970, my father, now deceased was born
in Maryport, Cumberland, John Wedgwood, mother May Wedgwood, both
ordinary working people, family ledgend is that they are decendants of
ARON WEDGWOOD, brother of famous Josiah.
I am not interested so much in the famous section of the family but more
in the humbler background of my father and his ancestors.
My father says that the only favor shown his grandfather that was he was
a tallyman at the (family owned ?) pit instead of a miner.
I am interested to know where my branch of the family split from the
potter tradition and learn about Arron and his family and ancestors.
PS you may be interested to know that as a female member of the family
that I have retained my family name in marriage( a strong Aussie
tradition) and that my daughter and son have kept their mothers family
name on their birth certificates.
