Hi Debbie

It's a village in rural North Yorkshire: if you have a look at:

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/

input the name and click on UK Place you should be able to see it!

Also if you click on the Old Maps tag-line at the bottom of this page
and following the links in your IE to Birdsall, Yorkshire you can see a
map for 1855 and will be able to relate the features of then and now.

If you go to the following URL you will find subscription details for at
least 2 mailing lists which have North Yorkshire interests:
