Hello All,
I'm new to the list. Recently I've learned more about our PAUL surname.Any
PAUL researchers in DEV/SOM/GLS? Anyone have ideas about researching Stone
Masons/Shoemakers/Tailors?in the 1830s/40s in DEV and GLS?
Here is a brief outline.
1841 UK Census: PAUL family at Higher Gunstone, Bideford DEV. Family
members are Mary (age 55), Sarah (24), Samuel (20): Shoemaker's Apprentice,
and John (15) Tailor's Apprentice. All born DEV.

Samuel age 36 Shoemaker (f: William PAUL, mason) married
Anna Maria SMITH age 23 (f: James SMITH, cooper)
reside: Harford St. Bristol.

Samuel PAUL, Shoemaker, 41, b. Bideford DEV
Anna Maria (nee SMITH), wife, shirt-maker, 26, b. Bath SOM

1871 UK Census, Chelsea, MDX, Christ Church,20 Collingwood St
Samuel (51), Anna (36), Edward (14), Vincent G. EVANS (2 mos)

1881 UK Census: Samuel and Anna are at:17 Collingwood St, Chelsea MDX
1884 June 24 Samuel dies at 17 Collingwood St
