Greetings from Oz, I have a problem identifying my ancesters real name!
In 1822 my gggfather was tried & convicted & transported to Australia as
George Bellon(Trial Transcript),then George Bolton (Transport shipping &
gaol documents.) The only data to date from parish records etc is he
presumably had a sister Phebe who registered her child as Bolwell & amongst
all this confusion it would seem his parents were Baldwell!!!I appreciate
how names can be mispelled etc either through illiteracy or accent
transcript errors but where do I start in attempting to identify my
ancestry? They were supposed to have resided in H/C & some records were
found in St. John the Baptist Church.
Is there a kind soul who might care to advise a good place to start.....Also
is the above Church still active? Thank you Peter Hayse
