David
The Moore Family Business at Wingfield, only closed down some four
years ago and they were still coal and timber merchants at that time.
I have spoken to Tony Moore who was the last owner and he would be happy
to either speak to you or answer your enquiries. His address
is:Oakfield, 37 Westwood Road, Trowbridge.
Tony told me:
The business was founded by Thomas Moore, who was Tony's Grandfather,
with his three sons.Tim who was Tony's Dad; Ernest and Frederick.
Tony said the death of Frederick was in a motor cycle accident and he
thinks it was concerned with a railway crossing. Frederick wife died
about two years after his death and the family always said it was of a
broken heart, there were no children.
Tony has recently returned from a tri p to South Africa and he went with
friends who are also called Lane.
Hope this helps. Kind Regards Chris Penny Bradford on Avon.

Subject: [WSX] MOORE in Wingfield/Trowbridge 1920's

Hi

Please does anyone have information on a family business (possibly
timber merchants) in Wingfield/Trowbridge area in the 1920's. I
believe the business was owned/run by Thomas MOORE and his son
Frederick.

Frederick was killed in a motor cycle accident in 1931.

Any information on the business and the family much appreciated.

David.
