I'm afraid I can't help very much but, such as it is, here's what I know.
Tapps can be traced in Dorset to about the 1730's but before that date the
only ones that I can find appear in Bedford where there are lots of them
going back to 1480's.
Don't know whether your Christian is connected in any way to my family, the
earliest of which I know so far is John Tapp,born about 1737. There is an
earlier Tap(not Tapp) family in IGI, Henry born 1715 and his wife Mary but I
don't know of any link.
