Morning Becki and all,
For those of you, who want more specific information about the Big Book,
here it is. I am adding additional references, which you may find in
libraries.
The book is titled: Vincent Family History and Genealogical Records.
It was compliled by Joseph E. Vincent, so he may be listed as author.
We are in possession of a copy of this. It has only descendents of Joseph
Vincent Sr.
Another book which is referenced in the Big Book as I call it; is:
History of Central Oregon: Embracing Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, Wheeler, Crook,
Lake, and Klamath Counties, State of Oregon. Spokane, Wash.: Western
Historical Pukblishing Co. 1905
Vincent Family Chronicle it is abreviated VFC in some places in the Book.
It is described more fully as a collection of notes, clippings, certificates
and
letters pasted in a book: Familien-Chronikel [Old English] on the cover.
The big book Bibliography Notes, indicate that it has been microfilmed several
times by the JC of LDS. The third microfilming[known as part three, is the
most complete.
Joseph E. Vincent Family Genealogical Letters[ abreviated Letters]. It is
described as a series of letters, notes, charts etc. which pertain to the
Vincent and
related families: also drawings, maps, notes of personal conversations,
transcriptions of tape recordings etc. Pages are numbered consecutively
throughout the volumes. It says it was microfilmed; but does not say
where it is available. Since the above was microfilmed by JC of LDS,
I would imagine it might be in Utah in the LDS library.
Early History of the Milton-Freewater Air pg 37, Milton-Freewater, Ore: The
Valley Herald Inc. 1962
Marie Dorion and the trail of the Pioneers, pg 17, part two, Milton Freewater:
The Valley Herald, Inc. 1971....I have discovered that these two references
are from a newspaper in the Milton-Freewater, Oregon area.
Tales of a Western Mountaineer by C.E. Rusk, Boston: Riverside Press, 1924
relates the story about the organization of the "Cascadians", an outdoor
club, which "Uncle Joe" belonged to. I believe he was the Joseph
Vincent who married Rachel and lived in Washington State. It tells about
a near accident on Mount Stuart.
There is a newsletter which was put out during the years of 1971-1989,
which I have copies of. It is called " Vincent Family Quarterly".
It has "current" information for the John Sidney Vincent lines which
include Joseph Vincent[who married Rachel], Oliver, Benton, George,
Franklin, and Washington. They are the children of John Sidney
Vincent and Matilda Moore. They are West Coast Vincents. We come
from the Oliver line. John Sidney is the son of Joseph Vincent Sr. and
Rosanna Poole of the Greenbrier, Shenandoah and Kanawha Co. area of
Va/Wva.
There is a book, which is actually a soft copy book, which has the
words: Virtute Non Viribus Vincent on the cover and a picture of the
Vincent coat of arms. The writing on that, says " American House of
Vincent". We have it in our possession. I usually call it the 1986 Update
Book, since there is a remark by Imogene Vincent and dated 1986 in the
front. She dedicated the book to a Jess G. Vincent. That is the book I
get all the stories from, which I have tried to forward to the lists and
interested people. I am slowly getting them printed and put on my harddrive
for later use of anyone who might be interested in Vincent Stories as it
pertains to Joseph Vincent Sr. descendents.
I understand that there is a Vincent Book which was largely written by
Willa Harmon[GGdaughter of John Frazier Vincent, who was son of
Joseph Vincent Sr.] I have articles by her in the 1986 Vincent Book.
I have a contact who has that Book; but at this time will respect his
privacy and not give that information out. If someone should need it,
you can request it, by emailing me, and I will check with him for permission.
This person is a descendent of John Frazier Vincent and this book appears
to have additional information about early Vincents than my books have.
The 1880 Census is credited with information about the Vincent family.
No other information is given about state etc. but I assume it is one of
the West Coast Census from the information which is referenced.
If anyone is interested in a list of Vincent obits which are in the Big Book,
you can request it by email, and I will try to get a list for you. They are
of the Joseph Vincent Sr. line.
The list of contributers would be pretty long; but that is another list, which
I could get done if anyone is interested. Glad to share what information I
have and it is easier to do it by list than individual mailings.

Joyce,
You listed that the Vincent book Vol. 1 is here at the library in Salt
Lake. Thus far I have been unable to find it. Can you tell me the exact
title and author(s) name in hopes I can find it this time?
A while back about the McClungs you were asking who possible children
were I have a John McClung b. 1733 in Ireland He died in 1830 in Bath
county, VA he was married to Sarah McCutcheon. His son William
intermarried my Gwinns. This came from a DAR lineage book vol. 116. Some
descendants lived in Nicholas county. I also have a variety of other
McClungs that are most likely his descendants as well but they are
younger ones.
