Hi Bill --
I'm not sure I ever got back to you! I'm sorry if I didn't. I got
"obsessed" with
my GREEN line and havn't paid much attention to anything else in the
interim.
I was going over the Kessinger side, and re-read your response to me.
Just to be clear, I have a GREEN Bible record with "Lee Elliott KY May
the 20, 1856"
as the entry for Silas Lee Elliott. This was most likely written by Mary
"Molly" GREEN,
his half sister born 1872. The Montgomery County census for 1870 gives
"S. Lee Eliott" an
age of 10, but ten years later when he is a head of household "S. Lee
Elliott" is reported as
24 years of age. In all three records his state of birth given is
Kentucky. So, all things
being equal, I tend to give credence to the Bible record as accurately
stating the birth of
Silas Lee Elliott.
William Logsdon Kessinger, Silas Lee Elliott's maternal grandfather,
moved his entire
household (all his descendants but the two eldest who had started
families) between the
1850 and 1860 censuses. Lucinda was the eldest child he took with him,
and if the above
records are correct, Silas Lee Elliott as well.
I show the same children for Lucinda's William FELKEL and Marvel GREEN
(yes, it's an
odd name, but this is correct) husbands, with the exeption that there is
a fourth GREEN child,
Benjamin Franklin GREEN (b. 9 Nov 1870), who preceded the other three but
died as a young
child before the next census.
There IS an Elliott family in Grayson Co. in 1850. Should I not assume
a connection?
