Janice Lund; Hello cousin, One of my 4th gt grandmothers was Lucy Armes,
born 1786 in Virginia, and a sister to your Nancy. I clearly may be
incorrect but I show Nancy's birth date as 5-31-1791 in Richmond, Virginia,
dying 5-18-1880 in North Henderson, Knox County, Illinois. Both girls were
daughters of Edward Arms and an unknown (wife's last name believed to have
been McHenry). Lucy's first born, who carried the name Arms and was
apparently born out of wedlock, was William Arms, Sr. Sarah Ann Armes was
his daughter who married Robert L. Mattingly and this couple were my gt gt
grandparents. Lucy and most of her family moved from Bedford County,
Virginia (around 1830 and Sarah Ann was born in Kentucky) and settled
initially in Breckenridge County, Kentucky. Many of them went on to other
places as did your Nancy. I'm quite certain the Arms had not been in
England for some time because Edward shows up in Bedford County, Va. in very
early records. I'm not quite certain when the "e" was added to the name but
the records I've viewed show that Edward and Lucy both spelled the name
Arms. As did her son, William, Sr. All Lucy's siblings seemed to spell it
Armes. Edward and McHenry (?) had 11 children.

I'll be happy to share what I have but can't type all of it here. Let me
know and I'll send it in e-mail.
