Subject: [WRY] Advice needed

Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice or help in tracing a relative. I think she was
my grandmothers sister (nee 'Freeman' - a side of the family about which I
know nothing really), I only ever knew her as Hilda. She lived in Mirfield
and I remember well visiting her home in the mid to late 50's. She lived in
a tiny house with only a living room (with bed in corner) and kitchen (only
big enough for 1 person), an outside toilet, but I've no idea where the bath
was! There were only two houses there - adjoining each other. The house
was surrounded by allotments and next to it was a long vertical drop down a
cutting with a road at the bottom. Steep steps with a rickety iron railing
ran down the embankment. You had to walk through the allotments to get to
the house in the corner. I drove through Mirfield in the early 80's and
although the cutting existed the area at the top was covered by a new
housing estate. She is long since deceased and I have no idea what her
address was, not even certain of her surname, no idea if she ever married.
She was probably born (guestimate) around 1890. Does anyone know this area
of Mirfield (I don't live anywhere near there now), or what it was called?
Or can anyone suggest anyway/anywhere that I could start to find out more
information about her?
Many Thanks
Ian Brooke
