For Julia who asks:

New ones are fairly expensive but there's a good chance of getting a
second-hand one for around 50 pounds; or, if you are lucky, you may find a
bank or garage or other business locally which has computerised and is
throwing out microfiche readers - ask your friends and yoour local family
history society.

if you do need to buy one, one firm which advertises in the latest 'Family
Tree Magazine' is Marathon, telephone 02380-220481, and another is MW
Microfilm telephone 01582-867045. You may find a more local one by looking in
the Yellow Pages.

I'm afriad I don't know about microfilm readers but I suggest you ask the
same firms.
