Hello all,
I was hoping some one could offer some suggestions for
the following puzzle!
Eliza Sykes - Born September 5, 1830
She Married
Edmund Buckley March 21, 1853 and they lived in
Outlane, Longwood
Eliza and Edmund are together up till the 1871 census,
where I find Edmund a widow and living in Halifax.
I then find Edmund remarried on the 1881 census with
two more children, one who was called
Eliza Ann and is 13, and another 6 year old boy born
1875. Eliza is obviously not the new wifes child.
(This 13 year old Eliza Ann Buckley doesnt not appear
on the 1871 census as a 3 yr. old.)
(Maybe fostered out for a time)
I found an Eliza Ann Buckley born in HALIFAX quarter
March 1868
And at the same time March 1868 the death of an Eliza
Buckley, the puzzle is this, the place of death is
SHEFFIELD
My thoughts are that Eliza gave birth to her daughter
(Eliza Ann) sometime between Jan and March 1868, and
died some time after..........
I have spent too much on ordering certificates so far
to find out they were not mine, that is why I hesitate
to order them.
The location is the problem; I have found no other
Eliza births or deaths that match so closely. Why
was she in Sheffield? could there have been some sort
of hospital or medical place they would have sent
Eliza to recover.?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Eileen
