Hi David,

I have found the following Harry Hartley on the 1901 census.

Harry Hartley 37 Yorks Morley Leeds Wortley Stuff Merchant

Due to changes the PRO has made to the search capabilities
I'm unable to locate any family members he may have so if
you're interested in this person, you'll have to purchase
the census image. But, using the highly unscientific
technique of holding my mouse over the little yellow box,
and scrolling thru the 80 or so possibilities, I have found
the following woman with the exact same code as Harry:

Lilian Hartley 24 Warwick Coventry Leeds Wortley

So she could be a possibility for a wife.

Hope this helps,

I have been unsubscribed for several weeks, now back and
been observing for a few days.
What has happened to Roy Stockdill? I miss his pearls of
wisdom.
The following was submitted in December 03 so apologies for
repeating

Last year I posted my HARTLEY interests and thanks to
several listers from
various parts of the world I have a lot more information
about my Morley HARTLEY's than I
could reasonably expect. My Great Grandfather David HARTLEY
was associated with the Daisy
Hill mill Morley, he died tragically at the age of 47 in
1887 and his wife (Emily) in 1889
aged 45. This left nine orphan children, including my
Grandmother to be, Louisa who
married John Percy Parker.
>From later Census data it seems that the eldest daughter
Ellen took responsibility for
seven younger siblings. A remarkable challenge. The eldest
son Harry or Henry (born 1864)
has so far not been traced. I have a copy of the will of
David Hartley.
What I am looking for is information on any of the siblings
and the location of any
archived information such as Obituaries etc.which would shed
some light on the
circumstances of these two deaths. If anyone could assist in
this regard
I would be much obliged.
