Hello John,
Thanks for that.
I have the marriage certificate, but the details don't give me any clues as
to her family, except her age (not always reliable), and her fathers name
Joseph SIMPSON, stone mason.
In the 1891 census she gives her birth place as Barkisland, but that could
be her mothers family home, although she was living in Halifax, Orange
Court, at the time of her marriage.
There is no sign of her on the IGI, and unfortunately I'm tied to the house
as a full time carer, so am not able to get anywhere where the 1841 census
would be available. Even if the LDS have copies, the nearest is over 60
miles away.
The nearest non conformist chapel to Barkisland is Old Chapel Independent
(Sowerby) but hoew old that is I don't know.
A real brick wall!
