Hi folks,

Following on from the advice about getting BMDs on-line, perhaps not
everybody is aware that FreeBMD now has many *images* available on-line.

Since I do not have local access to the full set of earlier GRO fiches,
a strategy I have been using extensively is to:

1. First check the FreeBMD *transcriptions*.

2. Then look for the "missing" or "poor" years in the useful charts of
completeness they provide.

3. Finally, to check the BMDs in these "missing" years directly with the
images.

I find I can search a whole year (four quarters) for a given name in
under 10 minutes...which is nearly as good as being in a library with
the fiches!
