Hi Carol,
I am descended from William West & Jane West.
They were first cousins. William's parents were Thomas West 1687 - 1728 and
Mary (Drusilla) Presbury m) 29Jan1712/13 b) 28Aug1694 d) 1728/30. He died
in RI from exposure and disease contracted in the West Indies. He was a
mariner and pilot.
Thomas and Abner's father was DR Thomas West of Tisbury, Martha's Vineyard.
DR Thomas b)1646 to Francis West and Margery Reeves in Plymouth, MA, or
Duxbury, MA, will probated 11 Oct1706. DR Thomas's wife was Elizabeth _____ .
She has not been identified yet to my knowledge.
All of this information is in the book by Charles Edward Banks, MD - The
History of Martha's Vineyard - Dukes County - Massachusetts. This is a
three volume set and all of the genealogies are in the third volume. The
first two volumes were published in 1911 but the third volume was not
published until after W.W.I. The genealogies follow families up until about
1800.
According to this volume the name of the third son born to William and Jane
is Cyrus.
I have volume III and will answer any questions about the West's listed in
this book.
