Hi and Thanks in advance for any clues.
I found this written in a book about Waterville Maine. USA. Can you help
with any info on this family in Scotland
DR. John McKechnie my mother's grandmother is a granddaughter of John
McKechnie.
No one of the early settlers was more active and useful and entitled to
respectful memory than Dr. John McKechnie. He was a Scotchman, educated as a
physician and civil engineer came to this country in 1755. A lot written
about him. Then this first entry in his PocketBook. 1775."
SCOTLAND, GREENOCK,July 26th, 1755. This day about 4 o'clock afternoon we
set sail in the CRAWBRIDGE BRIDGE, CAPTAIN CURY, commander, bound for Boston,
New England, there being 17 passengers. And landed all in perfect health
Sept. 12th thereafter at 7 o'clock at night at the Long Wharf, BOSTON."
