I am looking for the surname DUNMIRE or a variation thereof (Dunmuir,
Dunmere,etc.)
Samuel DUNMIRE is born about 1832 to a Samuel dunmire,Sr. The search has
been in 1850 from M.D. to W.Va. and Pa
Family tradition has it that this name is Scotch though most Dunmire's
came from Germany originally as Dormeyer's.Have found no connection there.
Sam Jr.'s two wives are both Scotch or Scotch Irish (McGuire and
Carmichael), he lives mostly in Scotch ethnic communities, and his children
are named Wm. Alexander,Samuel Gideon Sarvis, Daniel Edward, Sylvester
BakerClinton, Almeda, Minerva,Laura, Warren and Walter. In using the usual
names sequences there doesn't seem to be any strongly German names.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
