Just a word of caution that has been put to me. the
surname McKill could originate from Magill / McGill,
the G and K have much the same sound and most people
were illiterate until the 1800's a clerk simply wrote
what a name sounded like and different clerks could
use different spellings for the same personal name.
McKill name originates from Galloway in the south
west of scotland. McGill/Mcgeil/Macgill etc. first
appeared in 1231, according to Black's "Surnames of
Scotland". I am researching McKill / MacKill, Have
started a database, keep in touch
