I am researching the following family:
John Wheeler (Mariner) and Maria Benger of Vienna Row Lymington . Son of John & Maria is John Tremeere Wheeler born Jan 13, 1838 Parish of Lymington. John T (a Seaman in Steam Vessel) married Mary Fry about 1864 and they had the following children:
John (born abt 1865) Kate (1865)George T (1869) James (1870) Robert Treemeere (15 Sep 1872) Mary Jane (1877) Emma (1880/1).
At the time of the birth of John Treemeere they were living at 16 Nelson Street Southampton.
Sometime between the 1871 census and the 1881 census John Tremeere died because Mary is shown on the 1881 census as a widow. I can't find a date of death for either of them nor can I find a date of marriage. I have a birth certificate for Mary Fry giving her date of birth as 5 Oct 1838 at Cranborne d/o Moses Fry (Dairyman) and Maria Davis but I don't know if this is the correct Mary. On the 1871 census it states that Maria Fry widow aged 55 (mother-in-law) born Dorset Cranbourne, was living with them at 16 Nelson Street so I presume it must be correct.
Does anyone have any information about this family? Robert Treemeere is my g grandfather. He emigrated to South Africa and married Rose Mary Heenan (of Dublin).
