Thank you everyone who replied to my query.
My Whitakers were mostly in the Nottinghamshire area, and I am stuck on the
place of origin of one ROBERT WHITAKER who was born around about 1771. He
turned up at Nuthall, Notts when he married Ann REPPEN in 1796. I have
looked almost everywhere in Notts. for a baptism of Robert, and collected
info on quite a few families along the way, but I suspect he came from
further afield.
I now have another avenue to follow, thanks to the members of the Whitaker
List.
Best wishes to All
Ann
