Does anyone else out there connect with my WHITE line?
John White b. About 1720 in Ulster area of Ireland. Came to Pennsylvania
about 1729 with at least two older brothers James and David. (Have no
information on this James and David). They are thought to have settled in
the Chester Co., Lancaster Co., PA
He and his wife Mary Ann moved westward to Washington Co., Strabane Twp., PA
area near Canonsburg on Chartiers Creek about 1771. Mary Ann is believed to
have had the last name of PATTERSON but this has never been completely
proven.
They had the following children:
1. Jane/Jean b. Abt. 1747 m. Henry Taylor - lived in Stabane Twp. near
Washington, PA.
2. James b. Abt. 1751 m. Mary "Polly" Ross - lived in the Canonsburg -
Hickory, PA Area
3. John Ii b. 1752 m. Ann Bonar - lived in Chartiers Twp..PA on the farm
that is now the Washington County Fairgrounds
4. Samuel b. 1755 m. Mary Henderson - lived in the Canonsburg - Strabane
Twp., PA area.
5. William b. abt. 1757 m. either an Ann or a Sarah/Seara - very little
known about him.
6. Nathaniel b. 1758 m. Margaret McClure Little - moved to the Lawrence
Co., PA area near Mt. Jackson in Enon Valley near New Castle, PA
7. David b. abt. 1762 - very little known about him
8. Patterson b. abt. 1764 m. Ellen Rodentrof - They lived in the
Canonsburg, PA area but he died young and she remarried. Her and her new
husband William Sankey III moved to Lawrence or Mercer Co., PA
9. Benjamin b. 1766 m. Rachel Dayley and moved to Northern Ohio. He died
fairly young and she remarried. Her second husband was Daniel Gilson, Sr.
10. George b. 1768. Wife's name not known. Lived in the
Canonsburg-Strabane Twp., PA area. (I descend from this line)
11. Mary b. 1771 m. James Ross II lived in the Hickory, PA area.
There were also supposed to have been 6 other sons who died young--4 in
infancy or as small children and 2 as older children or young adults. One
of these may have been a Matthew White who lived long enough to have at
least
served in the Revolutionary War.
There was also supposed to have been a daughter who either died young or
ranaway with her boyfriend during the move westward (c,1771), returned to
the area from which they had come, married the young man and was never heard
from again. Possible name Sally/Sarah White Robison or Robinson.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who connects with my line.
