Hi Guys,

Is anyone holding much info on the Whitney family in England? The reason I
ask is I've finally figured out how the southern Whitneys got there. We
didn't come down from New England we came up from Bermuda! In the book
Southern Colonial Families by David A. Avant Jr. he proves Loubrad and my
family back to a Samuel Whitney born circa 1615 in England, will proven 1674
in Bermuda. He makes a very strong case that his father was a Capt. Francis
Whitney who was in command of the ship Garland out of London going to
Virginia Colony when he died from injuries suffered in a storm off of
Bermuda
in 1619. He was born ca. 1585 in England. (Yes Louise this is what I asked
for your snail mail address for). Any chance of anyone having any hunches on
where I could look for more info on these two? By the way this family's
migration was Eng>Ber>VA>NC>SC>KY. So if you find any inquiries about
Whitney's in those southern states make sure they get to me.

Thanks,
Michael Whitney

Michael,
I think that my Whitney Line was in Edgecombe Co., NC -- David or Davidson and
Francis Whitney -- ca 1740. Could this be the same line that you mentioned
above?
