Hi WRG:
Just a note to thank everyone for the great Whitney information.
I keep hoping someone will crack the '1745 Ebenezer barrier'!
Or answer how & why the Whitney's settled in New Brunswick, Canada.
I have been in contact with Willis Hamilton, The author of the book
"Old North Esk Revised". It's about the early settlers in the Miramichi
region.
There is a section on the Whitney's that came to that area about 1745.
I can get my line to << Ebenezer Whitney b. c1745, d. 15 Aug. 1810
m. Huldah Mooers 17 Jan. 1769 >> There is speculation that
Samuel Whitney and Lydia, of New Meadows, Maine were his parents.
I have a genealogy of << Ebenezer Whitney c1745-1810 >> done by
Doreen Arbuckle of Ontario, Canada. It has helped me find some of my
cousins and we are trying to gather more information on more recent
members of the line.
My line is:
1. << Ebenezer Whitney c1745-1810 m. Huldah Mooers >>
2. << Ebenezer Whitney c1774-1856 m. Charlotte Parker >>
3. << Edward Rogers Whitney 1814-1889 (m. 3 x)
m. 1. Elizabeth J. Sloan 2. Mary Jane Harris 3. Jane R. Forsyth
>> (Edward R. W. & Mary J Harris) son =
4.<<Edward Rogers Whitney c1859-1913 m. Mary Ellen Simpson {my g'parent's }>>
If I can help anyone, please let me know and I will copy the Whitney chapter
and mail to you. Keep all the new's coming it's great, maybe someday I will
be connected to John and Elinor !!
Thanks again,
Mary Ellen Jones
