Dear Whitney researchers,
I got this message on my Whittaker list, and checked it out. There are a
LOT of WHITNEYs there. Check it out!

"I was just searching the Net for Civil War photographs and came across
an interesting site for those who may have had ancestors in the Civil
War.

The US Army Military History Institute at Carlisle Barracks has a
website with a searchable photo database. The photo database has over
20,000 photos. You can search by name (I found two photos listed for
Gen. Edward W. Whitaker) or by military organization (1st Connecticut
Cavalry - for instance).

Although you cannot see the actual photo, you can e-mail a request for a
photocopy of the photograph (free), and purchase a photo if you desire.

If you are interested go to:

http://carlisle-www.army.mil/usamhi/PhotoDB.html

Best wishes to all!"

It seemed very interesting, and if anyone knows who "Pardon Whitney" who
fought in the Civil War was, I'm curious.
